Our History
In the vibrant 1940s, as Dallas was being established as a booming metropolis, a group of dedicated journalists recognized the need for a professional haven and founded the Press Club of Dallas. Forged as a place of camaraderie, it was a sanctuary for those who documented the city's growth, held power to account, and told the stories of its people. For decades, the Press Club of Dallas stood as the central pillar of Dallas journalism, pioneering progress, cemented legends into history, and nurtured the next generation of storytellers.
Following a period of inactivity, the Press Club of Dallas was reborn as the DFW Press and Media Club, formally established in 2025 by Tammany Stern. With purposeful evolution, we carry forward the original mission of professional unity and ethical commitment on the foundation laid by the original trailblazers.
